Volvo SuperComputer and Key Duplication Process
Posted by alexcaycho at May 13th, 2014
I took two very important classes 1 week ago at ” Just Cars ” locksmith convention. The first class was soldering, and the second was Eeprom reading. Usually the first thing that comes to mind is… computers! and you are absolutely right!
The Auto industry keeps evolving every year, coming with new systems and procedures for generating keys. We locksmiths have to keep up with the times/technology as well, since now you are very likely driving a supercomputer with four wheels. This is the ECM of a Volvo, which requires a very tedious key ordering procedure.
Thanks to our new equipment and knowledge, we can read the information right out of the chip, without corrupting or deleting any previous data, and create a transponder key on the spot. What amazes me the most is the value of such little chip ( which is 28 cents ) but the data that archives within, is worth more than $400.00! I’m very excited the Automotive Key Guys can now provide this service!
